Essential Writing/Drawing Materials

You don’t need much but you should have at least the following

• Sketchbook (5” x 8” to 8.5” X 11” – preferably hardbound)

• Pencils (HB) – standard or mechanical

• Pencil sharpener

• Eraser

• Fine tip marker pen/technical pen (.03-.05 mm) – permanent waterproof ink

 Optional Drawing Materials

If you would like to enhance your drawings and add color consider the following

• Additional pencils (2B – 4B – soft pencils for darker shading)

• Flat carpenter’s pencil (for shading large areas)

• Colored pencils

• Colored markers – fine tip

• Watercolors – compact field kit

• Paper stomps (for blending pencil areas)

 Carrying Gear for drawing materials

You will need something sturdy and comfortable to carry your gear around the grounds

• Backpack

• Shoulder bag

• Tote bag

 Something comfortable to sit on

Bring something comfortable to sit on and keep you dry

• Portable Stool

• Ground pad

Survival Gear

Personal comfort essentials

• Drinking water

• Sun screen

• Insect repellant

• Hat

• Rain gear

Optional Equipment
Bring your other tools and observation devices  but don't forget about the weight they will add

• Binoculars

• Camera

• Magnifying loupe

We will be out most of the day so bring some snack items and a Brown Bag Lunch
